Chickpeas & silver beet stew
Potaje de garbanzos y acelgas

Main meal

1 bunch of silver beet
1 Onion
2-3 green peppers
2-3 tomatoes (skinned & chopped)
1 dried red pepper
1 clove of garlic, chopped
1 whole bulb of garlic, washed
Bay leaf
1 clove
Spice for paella or turmeric
(Optional: a slice of salted cod)

  • Fry the onion, green peppers, sliced garlic& tomatoes in a little oil.

  • In a pressure cooker, put the soaked chickpeas, the head of garlic, bayleaf, dried pepper & the cod if used.

  • Fry a little and add water, a little spice and a clove and cook for 15-20 minutes. If using a normal saucepan, cook for about 1 hour.

  • When the chickpeas are soft, add the potatoes and the silver beet and cook util they are soft.
